Provena Health consists of six hospitals, 16 long-term/residential facilities and over 28 clinics inIllinois andIndiana.  Provena’s Southwest Suburban Region consists of two community hospitals –Provena St. Joseph Medical Center (Joliet,IL) and Provena St. Mary’s Hospital (Kankakee, IL).  The two communities are approximately 38 miles apart.  Strategically located inWill County, one of the fastest growing southwestern suburban areas ofChicago, Provena St. Joseph Medical Center (PSJMC) is the regional healthcare provider of choice, showing consistently strong financial performance.  PSJMC is the flagshiphospital ofProvena Health, and is currently investing over $200M in its facilities as they look to bring the community theMedical Center of the future.  PSJMC operates 475 beds with net patient revenues of $340 million and a medical staff of 500 physicians.  Provena St. Mary’s Hospital (PSMH) has brought new and cutting edge services to the community including a Center for Diagnostic Imaging and aRegional Cancer Center.  In 2005, PSMH was recognized by Solucient as a Top 100 Hospital for Performance Improvement over five years.  The facility staffs just under 150 beds and is a designated Level II Trauma Center.  Net patient revenues are just over $115 million and the medical staff consists of 252 physicians. 

Position & Requirements

Provena Health seeks an accomplished executive with a proven track record of success overseeing comprehensive planning and business development activities in a highly complex hospital setting or integrated delivery system.  The Vice President, Strategic Planning & Business Development reports to the System Senior Vice President and Regional President/CEO, Jeff Brickman and is key member of the senior executive team

The Vice President, Strategic Planning & Business Development is responsible for leading the planning and business development activities for the region, including, but not limited to, defining and developing new markets and clinical business lines as well as hands-on project management of strategic initiatives.  The Vice President provides leadership to implement and support growth of the region’s revenues, market share and reputation.  He/she creates and oversees strategic planning and new business development to include a focus on new developments in the area of acquisitions and physician relations.  The Vice President, Strategic Planning & Business Development is also responsible for the region’s clinical integration strategy, as well as marketing, public relations and communications.

This team member will be integral to developing and articulating a compelling shared vision for the business development function, will create and articulate the region’s business development strategy, and will be action oriented to bring opportunities to fruition.  He/She will work closely with the regional executive team and in particular the Regional Vice President, Ambulatory Services regarding physician alignment initiatives and the physician composition of regional development opportunities especially as it relates to the development of the primary care network.

Position & Requirements

Memorial Health Care System is seeking a visionary, seasoned planning executive to work collaboratively with senior management to continue the Mission, realize the Vision and achieve the objectives of the organization by facilitating strategic and business planning, operations improvement, and the implementation and evaluation of strategies and initiatives on an organization-wide basis.  The new Vice President will serve as a key advisor to the management team on strategic issues surrounding competition and market position as well as defining and implementing business strategies for growth for the key services lines as well as MHCS facilities, entities and programs which provide direct services in multiple locations throughout the region. 

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in a business-related curriculum with an MBA or MHA highly preferred.  A minimum of seven years strategic planning leadership in a complex healthcare setting and a proven track record of designing, implementing and maintaining system-wide planning processes effective and innovative business development and planning expertise are essential.  He/she must possess a demonstrated talent to facilitate group discussion and reach consensus among diverse interests and the ability to work with stakeholders throughout the system.  The selected candidate will be an independent and personable self-starter with strong interpersonal skills and excellent organizational skills and the ability to develop and analyze alternatives in problem solving and strategy development.

About the Position:
Reporting to the Corporate Director of Planning, in this position you will support Suburban Hospital Healthcare System’s planning and business development initiatives. Selected individual will:

• Manage the collection, organization, and interpretation of internal and external information in support of Suburban Hospital’s strategic and business planning initiatives for all entities within Suburban Hospital Healthcare System.

• Be responsible for the ongoing management of planning projects and staff under direction of the Corporate Director, Planning.

• Serve as an expert on planning databases and acts as liaison with vendors.

• Work collaboratively with people within Suburban and externally to successfully accomplish project and overall departmental goals.

Requirements

  Requirements include:

• Master’s degree in Business Administration or Healthcare Administration

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in healthcare planning

• Strong business analysis skills and proficiency/technical knowledge needed to develop, maintain and generate reports from databases in MS Excel, MS Access and PowerPoint

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a must and

• Ability to be organized, self-motivated and to exercise independent judgment.
